Frequently Asked Questions
Am I too old to straighten my teeth?
You are never too old to straighten your teeth, and orthodontic treatments are becoming more common in adults. Speak with one of our consultants to find out the best options for you. We can arrange an appointment to go through your thoughts and any concerns you have about your teeth and decide on the best course of action.
Is teeth whitening right for me?
Whitening is a great option if you want a total smile makeover; however, it is not recommended for everyone, most notably those with highly sensitive teeth. It is also important to note that whitening can’t change the colour of veneers, crowns, or fillings. Our dentists are on hand to talk you through the procedure and available options.
Can I get an emergency appointment?
We will always try to fit you in for a same-day appointment in an emergency; however, this might not be possible if we are full. Please contact us for more details, and we will do what we can to help.
I’m a nervous patient. Can you help me?
We know that coming to the dentist can be a daunting prospect for some and everyone has different worries or feelings about dental procedures. Let us know when you arrive what is worrying you as we have many ways to put you at ease and make the process easier for you.
Can I just see a hygienist?
You can see a hygienist without being referred to a dentist, but remember it is still important to have regular dental check-ups. A hygienist will ensure your teeth are clean but will refer you to a dentist if further treatment is needed.
Can I spread the cost of my treatments?
We might be able to assist with your payments and offer a finance plan for you. Get in touch for more information.
Can I make an appointment with you myself?
Yes, you can. Our practice is self-referral which means you can get in touch with us direct to book yourself in for an appointment or consultation.
Are you open outside normal office hours?
We know it can be tricky getting out of work to make an appointment, so we offer extended opening times to accommodate for this. Whether you are looking for an early morning appointment, evening appointment, or an appointment on the weekend we can accommodate this for you. Get in touch to confirm availability.

How often do I need a check-up?
It is recommended that you get a check-up regularly to ensure the best dental health, however, the length of time needed between appointments depends on each person. We will advise you on how often you need to come in.
I’ve been told I need a filling, but I hadn’t noticed a problem.
Sometimes your dentist will notice a small hole in your tooth that can easily be repaired with a filling before any further issues might arise. This will get the problem fixed before you feel any pain or need root canal treatment which is a more significant procedure and costs more.
Do I need a veneer or a crown?
Whether you need a veneer or crown will be down to your dentist. A crown covers the entire tooth so is better for larger amounts of damage or discolouration, whereas veneers are a very small layer bonded to the front of your teeth. Both can be colour matched to your own teeth so you can hardly even notice them.
Why do I need to wear a retainer after having my teeth straightened?
Once you have had your teeth straightened, it is important to keep them this way. Teeth can slowly start to move back to where they were before, so a retainer helps to avoid this and maintain the new, straight position of your teeth after treatment.
Will my treatment be guaranteed?
If it is within a year of your treatment being performed and you find that your filling, root filling, inlay, crown, or dental implant needs replacing, you will not be charged for this. There are some exceptions to this, and it is best to find out beforehand where you stand. This includes if:
- Your initial treatment was only designed to be temporary
- You were recommended a more suitable treatment alternative but turned it down
- You had dental implants and were advised on additional treatments such as bone grafting beforehand but did not take this up
- You need a replacement due to trauma affecting your treatment results
- It is not suitable for an exact replacement to be given
- You have had other treatment performed on that tooth since the initial treatment which may have affected it
I’m a dentist. How do I refer a patient to you?
If you are a dentist and looking to refer a patient to us, please check our services and that we provide the one you are looking for. After this, simply use the referral form on our website or give us a ring where we can give you more information and discuss this.
