Clear Braces

Although they are more advanced than the standard metal brace, the good news when it comes to price is that clear braces are likely to work out at a very reasonable price thanks to the shorter treatment time. Because this is a faster and less complex process than other straightening treatments, you will require fewer appointments and are also less likely to experience any of the complications that are common with orthodontic intervention – which can include gum disease and allergic reactions. Clear braces, for their part, are much less invasive and because we match the colour to your teeth, no-one will even know you are wearing them.

As any orthodontist in Guildford will tell you, the best chance of success depends on using the right treatment for your case, and if you prefer clear braces over metal braces then you need to be aware that they do not change things as much as other treatments. If you have a crooked bite, then clear braces may not be able to change that. Furthermore, each treatment is only as effective as the aftercare you are willing to give it. When you have your braces in place, you need to make sure you follow the orthodontist’s advice on brushing and maintenance.

Compared to other types of brace, clear braces will cause less pain: we cannot guarantee that you will be without discomfort, but it will definitely not be severe. Usually you will find that any pain will last for as long as it takes to get used to the braces; after a short while you will likely forget you are wearing them.

At the beginning, when you are getting used to having a brace in place, you might find that you speak differently than usual, but this is fleeting when compared with metal braces. Most patients find that within 24-48 hours they have no problems speaking as they usually would.

After a pre-agreed spell wearing clear braces, the time should come when they have had their effect and you can stop wearing them. At that point, you will need to come in for a last appointment to check for any wear and tear to the teeth and to ensure you need no further treatment. It may be that, in order to protect and finalise the results you have achieved with the braces, you need to wear a retainer for a period. This will be addressed at the final appointment, and a time frame agreed.
